April and May Sports Review

Our new Sports Review will be released every month to capture the very best of the local sports clubs that we sponsor. Paul Robinson Solicitors LLP sponsors many sports clubs including cricket, football and rugby clubs from the local area. This next edition is a look over both April and May as we transition from Football and Rugby season into Cricket season.

Southend United Football Club had a great April with 4 wins against Bradford, Oldham, MK Dons and Gillingham. The pitch also had great use in May as Southend Business Professionals took on Barclays. We were extremely proud of our two players Mustak Bari and Chris Wall who represented Paul Robinson Solicitors in the Business Professionals team. Well done to everyone who took part in aid of Havens Hospices. We were also very happy to be invited to an evening with Chris Powell and Ron Martin in aid of Prostate Cancer at the Mayoral Parlour in Southend. It was a wonderful evening and raised a lot of money for another fantastic charity. We wish the club the best of luck for the next season.

Billericay Town Football Club have had a very successful two months retaining the league cup title by winning 5-3 against Met Police on 11th April, becoming 2017-18 Bostik Premier League Champions and Jake Robinson scoring the most goals than any other player for the club in a season, totalling 52. The club has had great success this season and we are optimistic that this success will carry on into the coming season having been promoted.

There have been many changes at Southend Rugby Football Club. Some of the most notable include; Josh Ward being announced as Director of Rugby on 10th April, Peter Thomas stepping down as President and Neil Harding being elected as the new President of the club, and many new signings. Some of the new signings include; Miles Pitcher (Tight Head Prop), Ross Stalley (Fly Half) and Sam Hampson. In addition to the new signing of new players to the club there will also be the return of some former players Harry Branch, Nic Grier & Darryl Ox. The club also had a very successful May Ball which saw much of the team and supporters dress in the 1920’s era and celebrate at the club.

Southend on Sea and EMT Cricket Club have to date either lost or drawn their games this season. However, they are looking forward to the rest of the season in their new kits which arrived 28th April. We are proud to be on the front of these shirts for the coming season. The club also had the Essex County Championship Trophy visit them in April. John Branch, from our Property Department and Tyler Fitzpatrick, from our Litigation Department were delighted to be invited to go and see the cup at the club, and enjoyed having their picture taken with it.

Billericay Cricket Club’s 1st team have had a very successful start to the cricket season. They have won the first round of league cup against Harold Wood and are looking forward to the second round this coming Sunday against Horndon. In T20 they knocked our favourites Wansted in the first round, but unfortunately lost to Upminster in the second round. We are also looking forward to supporting the club this coming Saturday when many of our colleagues will be coming to the club for our Summer Party watching the 2nd and 4th team as they play at home. Good Luck!

Well done to all of the great clubs that we sponsor. Look out for our monthly round up, at the end of each month, on our website and social pages.
