The national press had recently covered a story involving a child being abducted by his mother when she took him abroad to live, when the maternal grandmother had elevated Parental Responsibility as his legal guardian.

There appears to be a lot of misconception about Parental Responsibility; what it involves, how it enables the holder to access information and make decisions in respect of children, how to limit the other parent’s Parental Responsibility, and how and if it can be removed completely.

If the principle of PR is misunderstood and applied incorrectly, it may have an adverse impact on both the lives of the parents and more importantly, of the children.

If you want to discuss anything to do with your children and their future, please do not hesitate to contact the children department for further information. We do offer a discounted fixed fee appointment at all of our offices across Essex and London.
