In November some of the Paul Robinson team went to visit West Ham, meeting Karen Brady, to see how the Players Project is progressing, where the Club will work with, help, support and give opportunities to up to 10,000 people in the community; in the last month the project teamed up with and supported the homelessness charity Crisis. At the end of 2019 David Moyes was confirmed as the new Manager of West Ham. Moyes returned for a second time as Manager, after previously managing the team short-term in November 2017, signing an 18-month contract starting immediately ahead of New Years Day. He said “It feels great to be home. I’ve missed being here because I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed being around the stadium and I loved being in this part of the world and I missed the club, so I can’t wait to get started”. This month Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Darren Randolph returned to West Ham on a three and a half year contract, and Czech Republic international Tomáš Souček signed an initial loan deal until the end of the 2019/2020 season with the option to make it permanent in the summer. The club also signed Jarrod Bowen from Hull on the transfer deadline day.
Southend United Football Club announced at the end of October their new manager, Sol Campbell, until the end of the 2021/2022 season. Campbell is well known former defender whose career spans over 18 seasons, also representing England 73 times playing in a number of World cups and European Championships.
Billericay Town Football Club confirmed in October that the club has been taken over by a consortium of businessmen. This month Brian Galach has joined the team on an initial months loan. Billericay Town FC have won against Wealdstone, as well as drawing at three out of five games.
Southend Rugby Football Club won their latest game against Sudbury last week and we hope this continues at their upcoming games in February.
Southend Cricket Club fixtures are now available for 2020 starting on 9th May playing against Wickford. They are looking for players to join them for the upcoming season.
Billericay Cricket Club are currently preparing for their 2020 season.
