The government has introduced a call for evidence in relation to suggestions that the Tenancy Deposit Protection System be altered, to make it easier for tenants moving from one property to another.
The consultation seeks to address what can be done to speed up the return of the deposit, and also to consider whether existing initiatives to address deposit affordability are meeting tenants needs.
There is also query as to whether or not tenancy deposits should be able to be moved between properties, and this will also be part of the consultation.
The consultation is currently live, and closes on 5 September 2019. Requests are not only considered from tenants, but will also be considered from landlords.
